About the event

Utilities are moving deeper into the energy transition. With renewable energy goals that are driven by either their regulators or are internally driven, virtually every utility in the US is moving towards 100% clean energy between 2030 – 2050. Given the complexities of generating and delivering energy, what is the right fuel mix in this journey? What ensures stable rates, maintains historic levels of reliability, meets regulatory requirements, and continues to provide safe energy for employees, partners, and customers? In this session leaders from two utilities will share their utilities’ journeys on the path to a cleaner energy future.

Key Takeaways

1. Learn what is motivating utility leaders to move, sometimes aggressively, into this new energy future, and what their teams are doing to ensure stable rates, high levels of reliability and safety for all.

2. Hear how they have had to make changes to the “soft side” of utility operations as part of this energy transition: shifting people and staffing needs, changes in employee expectations, and meeting customer expectations.

Presenters:

Tim McAreavey, Vice President, Customer Service, Omaha Public Power District

Matt O’Connell, Principal resource Planner, San Diego Gas & Electric Company

Moderator: Mike Smith, Principal, Utility 2030 Collaborative
