Participants will break into small teams in this hands-on simulation and tackle a fictional utility budget scenario. The challenge: identify cost-cutting opportunities while still investing in one high-impact innovation. Each team will weigh trade-offs, prioritize spending, and then present a brief 2-minute summary of their strategy and the rationale behind their decisions.

 

This interactive exercise sparks creativity, critical thinking, and real-world collaboration—mirroring the daily tough choices utility leaders face.

 

1:45–2:45 PM | Budget Reboot Idea Sharing & Sharing Bold Ideas

  • Structured facilitation

  • Share bold ideas, ask burning questions, and offer practical tips

  • Whiteboards & notepads available to capture “aha” moments

 

2:45–3:00 PM | Closing & Postcard Commitments

  • Participants fill out a “commitment postcard” to themselves—one idea they’ll take back and apply.

  • Postcards will be mailed to attendees 30 days later for built-in accountability.
